A private hands-on pottery session for one or two guests inside Studio Esja, our working ceramic studio near Reykjavík.
This experience is personal, relaxed, and creatively open. Most guests create two wheel-thrown pieces each and a number of handbuilt pieces, with freedom to explore shapes, cups, bowls, dishes, or your own ideas depending on skill level and pace.
With personal guidance throughout, complete beginners and creative visitors alike can enjoy the process and make something meaningful by hand.
Session length: Approximately 1.5 hours

What you’ll make
In this workshop you’ll create:1 handbuilt dish (small plate / trinket dish / snack dish)1 wheel-thrown mug (guided — perfect for first-timers)You’ll learn the essentials, work with beautiful clay, and leave with pieces you’ll actually want to use.
Duration
1–2 hours (depends on group size and pace). What’s included. Clay, tools, and guidance. Trimming + firing of your pieces. Glaze (studio choice) Care + finishing handled by the studio
After the workshop
Your pieces need drying, firing, and glazing. Pickup time: usually 2–4 weeks after the session (adjust this if your studio timeline is different).

Group size

What to bring
No equipment needed. Wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a little dusty. You’re welcome to bring snacks. Coffee will be served.
